This dwarf, shrubby form of our native bald cypress was found as a witch’s broom in Wooster, Ohio. The mint-green, feathery spring foliage darkens through the summer, and then turns russet in the fall before dropping for the winter. Rounded cones are formed in the first or second year and can be left on the plant to slow its growth considerably. They also can be removed to encourage vigorous growth. Useful as a specimen in a small garden. Selected from a native species.
