They are a group of crosses of S. oblata and S. vulgasris made by several breeders. Characteristics include flower color, fragrance, hardiness, mildew resistance, and in some instances good reddish-purple fall foliage. ‘Assessippi’ has single lavender blooms that are highly fragrant.
