White fragrant bell-shaped flowers with yellow stamens are borne in 4 to 8 inch long pendulous racemes in May and early June. The gray bark on mature trees will exfoliate revealing an orange inner layer for winter interest. Can be used as a large shrub or small tree in sun or partial shade in a protected part of the garden. Native to Japan.
