White, mildly fragrant, bell-shaped pendant flowers bloom in June to July. Mature bark exfoliates to reveal attractive orange inner bark for added winter interest. Makes a striking specimen. An ideal large shrub or small tree to combine with azalea, kalmia and rhododendron. Sun or partial shade in a protected part of the garden. Native to Japan, China and Korea.
